Fire Safety Workshop: Best Practices and Innovations
A workshop on the calculation of fire resistance for steel structures was organized at IZS, featuring presentations by engineers and designers who perform these calculations daily, as well as manufacturers of fire protection systems. We demonstrated how to calculate the fire resistance of individual structural elements, including determining the critical temperature of unprotected steel members. Additionally, we explored various fire protection solutions, such as fire-resistant boards and coatings, emphasizing that steel elements can withstand certain fire loads without protection. For cases where additional resistance is required, appropriate fire protection measures are applied. All calculations were performed in accordance with EUROCODE standards, providing participants with practical insights and best practices for fire safety in steel structures.
