Hofer Želodnik Logistic Center
The Hofer Želodnik Logistic Center, spanning 56,000 m², is one of the largest projects I’ve managed as a lead chartered engineer. This state-of-the-art facility comprises three main sections: a central warehouse, a cold storage and freezer building, and two administrative buildings. The warehouse (approx. 215m x 190.5m, height 7.5m to 10m) features a steel roof with trapezoidal sheeting, secondary steel beams, and prestressed RC girders supported by RC columns and a connected RC slab. Inside, it includes a two-story technical area, a social block with RC walls and cast-in-place floors, and a crane runway. The cold storage and freezer (approx. 80m x 95m, height 9.5m) incorporates a steel roof with primary steel trusses and secondary beams on RC columns. A steel mezzanine supports climate-control equipment. The administrative buildings (approx. 65m x 15m and 35m x 15m, height 24m) use Pi slabs reinforced with in-situ concrete, supported by RC frames, walls, and stair cores. These structures rest on RC mat slabs with deep ductile pile foundations.
