Power Plant in Ljubljana
The cogeneration plant at Verovškova 62 in Ljubljana is a facility for combined heat and power production (CHP) at Toplarna Šiška. Originally built in 1989, it underwent significant upgrades in 1998 to accommodate a new CHP unit. These upgrades included reinforcing existing RC columns, adding new RC beams, and raising the height of the steel structure, along with horizontal stabilization through additional bracings. The structure is a rectangular building with dimensions of 27.6m x 28.2m and two levels: a basement and a ground floor. A steel platform at 6.55m supports a steam boiler above a gas turbine, with a steel roof at 14m. The foundation system consists of point and strip footings under RC walls and columns. Reconstruction efforts focused on strengthening steel frames and bracings to improve seismic resistance, especially due to irregularities in horizontal rigidity. Additional reinforcements were made to platform beams and foundations to comply with modern mechanical resistance and stability standards.
